CropProphet not only provides crop yield and production forecasts, but also provides market critical weather forecast information. The models used include NOAAs Global Ensemble Forecast System (GEFS) and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECWMF). The weather forecast information is presented in terms of forecast weather conditions relative to normal conditions, determined from a long history of weather observations. The example provided in the graphic shows greater than normal precipitation along the eastern coast of the United States but generally drier everywhere else.

In addition, corn, soybean, and winter wheat production weighted conditions of the weather forecast information is provided to simplify interpretation of the potential impacts on the crop at the national scale. The example provided indicates the corn production weighted precipitation forecast is 68.9% of normal precipitation over the coming week.

CropProphet users benefit by having daily updated weather forecast information presented to facilitate analysis of the potential impacts on county, state, and national scale crops.
